Based on the real, unevenly-sized IAU constellation boundaries the ecliptic actually passes through — not the 12 equal 30° bands of the popular (tropical) zodiac. Boundary crossings shown here are approximate ecliptic longitudes derived from the widely-published modern entry dates — accurate to roughly a day, not survey-grade precision.

The Constellations of the Ecliptic

The 13 IAU constellations the Sun, Moon, and planets actually pass through — including Ophiuchus, which has no popular zodiac sign at all.

Constellation boundaries were formally fixed by the IAU in 1930 (Eugène Delporte) and don't move — but the dates the Sun crosses each one drift slowly over centuries due to precession. The entry dates and derived longitudes above reflect the present epoch and will have shifted noticeably in a few hundred years.
